Great stuff, great price! With 5+ items & 15% off for S&S I was somewhere in the $13 range.... Can't beat $6.50/liter with a selfie stick! Thanks OP, repped!

Have they gotten their act together? Tested a few years back as not true Virgin Olive oil as well as many other Brands making that claim.

I think you need some periods or commas or something. I don't understand.

I think despite the punctuation, I still understood him/her. But since you can't decipher for whatever reason, here you go:

"Have they gotten their act together? They were tested a few years back. The results came back as not true Virgin Olive oil. Many other Brands making that claim also failed these tests."

Thanks. So are you saying that an independent body did some tests on this olive oil and found it wasn't actually EVOO? Any link to this report?

Here is a link to the study:
https://1.oliveoiltimes.com/libra...report.pdf

Study conducted by: University of California, Davis

Of course, the CEO of Colavita claims it's all false... etc etc etc

About the product
Imported from Italy. Cold production obtained exclusively from olives harvested from the finest groves in Europe. Contains oil from one or more of the following countries: Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal.
First cold press. Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the quintessential every day oil with delicate flavor that has the perfect balance of fruity and spicy notes. Perfect for roasting baking dressing and marinades.

This product bares The North American Olive Oil Association (NAOOA) Quality Seal and has been tested for both quality and authenticity according to the International Olive Council (IOC) standards.

Two time winner "Best Everyday Cooking Oil" in Men's Health magazine's Annual Nutrition Awards.

68 oz plastic bottle. Certified ISO 9001:2008. Cholesterol and Carbohydrate Free Product. Certified OU Kosher.

One Davis study says one thing... IOC & NAOOA say different... The Men's Health Award? A bonus verification.. Weigh them how you will but ask yourself, when you're cooking/baking... Can you ACTUALLY taste or tell a difference? Between good oil & poor, yes... But most palates (that aren't being prejudicially biased) can't tell & people that say they can are just being purposely snobbish.

PS: The Davis study by the way... Is from 2010... A lot can be changed (both for good OR bad) in almost a decade. Given this piece of the knowledge puzzle, I choose to weigh the more recent info posted in Amazon regarding the certification & awards...more valid and pertinent. Make your own (now hopefully more informed) choice as you will...

Good info from UC Davis. 60 minutes did a bit on the big business of olive oil fraud.

Colavita is good and this is a very good price, but there are other brands that I prefer that are not much more expensive. Zoe (Spain) Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 1 Liter tin is $12.99 regular price on Amazon and it's really, really good. Partanna and Paesano, are real Sicilian oil and taste great. For example: Partanna Extra Virgin Olive Oil 101 oz Tin for $24.75 at https://taldepot.com/partanna-ext...z-tin.html Spend $30 and get free shipping. It's worth it to me to spend a little more for a great dipping and flavoring olive oil. Obviously there's no limit to how much you can spend on EVOO, but IMHO there is a big difference in flavor between the grocery store oils and the ones I mentioned.
