It's back! I just bought the new Sam's 5300 for 279.99 but was left jealous. This just popped up while I was stalking the internet and I jumped.

I got this last time at 269. 297 with tax. I was given the option of this or a new 2500 ascent series. I sort of regret not taking the ascent at that price.. It's a very low bowl and your hand goes right in when you put things in it. It's scary knowing how powerful the vitamix is. The ascent series won't blend without the cover on i believe. Regardless this a steal at this price. This is the highest end legacy blender and blends better than the new ascent series in torture tests. I've heard forum posts regarding questionable motors and issues with the ascent series. But they have a 10 year warranty so you're still covered. I highly recommend this model. It's the best of all the vitamix models (I happen to like the touch). The comparable ascent model is that 3500. This one is probably more durable.

Types grandpa with his touchscreen phone…#irony

Whatever you say, the world will move forward. However much you yell, it's never going back to making button phones.

This kind of cracked me up because it seemed satirical... Like someone would really want to go back to up/down arrow buttons and physical keyboards on phones. Or taking 5 minutes to enter an address on first gen car navigation before touch screens came into play (then subsequently leapfrogged by Android Auto and CarPlay).

Then it struck me. You were serious.

Would this blender be a part of the Vitamix settlement claim (https://slickdeals.net/f/11123743-own-a-vitamix-blender-you-may-be-able-to-file-a-class-action-settlement-claim?v=1&page=2)? Since it's a refurb unit I'm guessing no?

What's the warranty on this? Is it better to buy from Vitamix directly when it becomes available?

what products do you know that have become more reliable with the implementation of touch screens?

smartphones? nope
vehicle electronics? nope
laptops? nope
appliances? nope

Vitamix blenders are tanks, rugged as all hell. their blenders are nearly lifetime blenders, and when they break it's not due to the mechanical switches it's usually due to motor burn out or an electrical problem at the source

the last place that i want a touch screen is on a blender which has the potential of being directly exposed to liquid, being literally right below a jar full of it. at least on a washing machine the electronics controls are above the water. sure, Vitamix claims it's fully sealed and waterproof. for now
That's sound logic although questionable since Vitamix claims it's waterproof.

And I'd be interested in the 750 series but I haven't seen the 750 series on sale. If not this touchscreen, What other Vitamix you recommend?

Please search for Vitamix on this forum. This has got a lower price point before. Also this hit $300 a few times in November and didn't get any love whatsoever. Wonder why?

Thanks OP. I was eyeing the refurb Pro 750 on Vitamix.com and would have been $414 after the holiday sale and 10% coupon but became sold out this morning. After googling and looking through reviews on various sites, it is stated that this is essentially the same as the 750 model with the only major difference is having the touch screen. I went ahead and purchased this 780 through amazon. It saved me about $100. I'm assuming this amazon purchase will still come with the 5-year full warranty.
