Should work fine for an NVR. I've seen separate surveillance drives sold, but both NAS and NVR drives are running 24x7.

This actually has a 600K load/unload cycle rating vs 300K on a WD Purple. Power consumption is higher though since it's 7200 rpm.

Looks like a good deal. But I'm torn due to two previous bad Fry's customer service experiences. They accused me of fraud when I discovered the wrong motherboard in the box and they tried to give me an open box item for the Apple Watch deal.
