I'm just wondering what you guys think about a 5% CB credit card offering 5% cash back on one revolving bonus category of your choice + 3% when you dine at restaurants, or buy groceries or gas + 1% on everything else.

"The SAFE Cash Rewards Visa® Card allows you to earn unlimited cash rewards: 5% cash back on one revolving bonus category of your choice + 3% when you dine at restaurants, or buy groceries or gas + 1% on everything else.

You choose how to apply your cash rewards:

Apply them to your card balance
Deposit them into your SAFE account
Donate them to charity"

It depends on if the revolving categories are any good what the cap is on 5%. If you're doing MS and you can exploit the revolving category then sure, milk it. If you're just looking for a good cash back card you will have to crunch the numbers for yourself to see if this would come out ahead over the no annual fee 2% cash back cards or some other points card.

you should include in your title that membership is limited only to certain cities in California. One also has to be a member to apply for the CC.

Overall, the rotating 5% categories is hidden in their documents or else it is hard to find, maybe they really set it up this way?
