Yeah I can't say I have never used them. Personally I am looking for the Pro 2. I just haven't seen them this low... I suppose there could be a reason.

Which true wireless system could you recommend? Reviews for original Arlo showed crappy battery life. I'd prefer a local system with local storage that I can monitor remotely. TIA.

Hi Su_A_ve

Are you referring to a WiFi battery operated camera? ( The term "wirefree" is what seems to be used for such cameras )

Yes. Wirefree I guess then. To be honest, if I would have to run wire, I would rather go for PoE cameras.Unfortunately, I cannot in my case at this time.

HI Su

In general all the wirefree products are poor performers as security cameras.

Quick summary:
Arlo Pro 2 ( 1080p ) > Arlo Pro ( better rechargeable battery ) > Arlo ( gen-1 obsolete - this deal )

If you can go wired power + wifi you will have better results.
( Arlo Pro 2 provides that option )

Note, I've written a longer review on wirefree camera products in the wiki here:

I have the Pro 2's and they work really well. Apparently, battery problems are fixed as I set mine up three weeks ago and it been as cold as -2 degrees and I still have 56% battery left.
