It depends on how you define leather. Unfortunately leather terms are somewhat loosely defined and adhered to.

Since a single square foot of reasonably quality leather would cost $10 or more, I'd say no on this wallet. There is likely cow skin involved somewhere in the makeup, but it could range from an inner layer of that skin (where fibers are loose and it isn't as tough) at best, to bits and pieces of leather ground up and compressed together like papier mache. Then it's likely very thin and coupled with canvas or other liners.

A reasonable metric for leather is to look for terms like "full grain" or at least "top grain." Checking if the leather is from a reputable tannery like Horween or Wickett & Craig is a good call too. There are other good tanneries, but it's harder to be confident. Then ensure the leather isn't lined or filled with cheaper materials.

More detail than you cared for I'm sure. I write for BestLeather.

While the description says "genuine leather" it should say "genuine leather veneer".

Because under that leather is stiff canvass.

Wow! I had to "rep" you for this post ... with the vernacular used, and simply the way your words hit the page (so to speak) - I could see that a higher level of understanding (concerning leather, AND command of the English language) far above the average Slick Deals denizen was on display! 👏

reviews are just okay, marginal enough that I will pass on this baby, but thanks OP for the post.

Even if it were good quality, I wouldn't want a wallet that said Levis (or any other brand in large letters) on it like that.

Yea, SLIMfold doesn't quite fit the description, especially when loaded up with cards. FWIW, I put my wallet in my front pocket now and I don't have lower back aches anymore.
