There is a lot of ignorance on this tread. Coffee should be brewed between 195 and 205 degrees per SCAA standards. If you are using water hotter than 205 you are over extracting the bean. If it is cooler than 195 you are underextracting the bean (grind size notwithstanding).

That said, the 185 on this kettle for coffee is way off. $40 is not bad, just use the 203 setting. Most people use the Bonavita Variable rate kettle as it can do anything.

The purpose of a gooseneck is to control flow rate. Can't do good pourover without a gooseneck as flow rate is how you control agitation which impacts extraction.

This kettle is designed for 1-5 cup (cup = 5oz) pourover. If you want to do bigger Chemex batches you need the Bonavita 1.7L kettle.

Also - a kettle like this helps with teas. Green teas extract at a lower temperature than black teas.

If all of this means nothing to you then this kettle isn't for you. Stick to your Folders and Lipton.

I see it for $85 on Amazon, most other brands electric kettles with temperature control is around $60, cheapest one is $45.

So yeah, great find OP.

And for all the commenters, if you're fine with Dunkin Donuts or K-cups, great! Skip this thread.

Leaves it for those, who brew their own coffee/ tea.

$60 off is a nice discount, but was it ever really worth $100?

If you wanted some more reviews to read Smilie

EDIT: Kettle is slightly different (size and shape), base looks exactly the same and the top might be too. Don't @ me

Base looks the same, kettle looks slightly different (1.0L vs 0.8L) but still a useful link, thanks.

Yeah, looks the same to me. I really doubt CC makes their own kettles, just like Starbux. I'm sure it's some rebranded chinese stuff.

Most electric kettles are 1500W, this one is 1000W. So might take a little longer to boil the water.

Yeah, that's all wrong. So if you get this use the 203 setting for the coffee.
