The price is $180, and has been down to $160 recently, but it hit my threshold for a good deal.

Note: This is New and not Refurbished and direct from Amazon.

I just noticed these are coming in a "frustration-free package".

This concerns me, this is suppose to be a "new" product. I should have a choice how I want to receive it, "new regular manufacture packaging in factory sealed box", or have amazon take it out of manufacture box and put it in brown box.

Many times with "new" products amazon gives you OPTION, but with this product frustration-free shipping is sort of hidden, I did find it, but, it's not in a regular place when it's in a "box" that says "regular package" or frustration-free package.

If you get this product, tell us how it comes to you, in factory sealed box, or brown box, and does it look like an amazon return or refurb.

When I pay this much money for "new" product, I don't want Amazon taking it out of "sealed box" and putting in it "who knows what".

I can honestly say you won't regret it (and you can always return it within 30days if you don't like it)... going from a Ninja to a Blendtec is like going from a Honda Civic to a Maserati. Sure... they both might get you to places, but boy do they do it differently. But performance-wise, Jamba Juice uses Blendtec's for a good reason. Lasts long and the smoothie is SUPER well blended. No chunks.

Kind of ironic that you use the word "water" in your statement because that's one of the reasons I prefer the Blendtec. Look at the owner's manual for each one and you'll see that the Vitamix requires the addition of water to blend ice. Not so much for the Blendtec. Throw ice in and go. Comes out perfect too.

That's only one example and it may or may not apply to you currently but someday that will be something you wish you had if you had the Vitamix which costs more money. When you pay as much as you pay for a Vitamix you shouldn't have to make compromises. I know first-hand because I owned both side-by-side for months. Due to Slickdeals deals on them I didn't pay retail and could afford to run both side-by-side knowing full well that whichever I decided to sell I would get at least what I paid for it on the used market via Craigslist.

I opted to sell the Vitamix.

There are many reasons why but the few large ones really are game changers. The jar difference is drastic. As long as you don't go too thick you'll never need a spatula to manually get things moving while blending. The Vitamix not only needs one but they include it as proof that you'll need to slave over your blender regularly to get things to come out right. On the Blendtec, you push the button and walk away. Come back when it's done, pour out (much easier with the square jar too) and enjoy. That alone is worth the extra money... oh, wait a minute. The Blendtec costs LESS not more. ROFL.

Sure the Vitamix may have a more powerful motor but they lack in just about every other category. Remember, you have to live with this on your counter and boy is it ugly. The Blendtec looks modern and user interface even looks futuristic by comparison. Plus it fits easily under overhead cabinets. It also appears to be more reliable and this is easily evidenced by walking into any juice shop where bottom line is the deciding factor and most all will run Blendtec. If they had to replace them more often this wouldn't be the case.

In closing, I'm really not sure why people still actively choose to pay more for a Vitamix in 2018 with all of the reviews stating that the Blentec is the better value and may (myself included) even say that for the same $$ they would still chose the Blendtec. Not sure why anyone would pay more for a Vitamix at this point in the game unless they didn't have access to the internet to research for themselves or just had some weird brand loyalty for reasons known only to them.

Been needing a blender. Got the Vitamix 5300 at Sams for $300. Should I return and get this for $110 less?

The Vitamix 5300 and the Blendtec Classic are generally comparable. Depends if you want to save money or not. Check out the link, but note that from what I have seen Blender babes tends to prefer Blendtec. https://www.blenderbabes.com/blen...s-vitamix/

Because the blade and bearing are fused into the jar. I just had mine go out (bearing seized and the blade was loose) after 2 years but Blendtec has a great 8 year warranty.

Just seems high, considering the entire blender with jar is $180... I don't really have to have 2, just would have been nice. Hell, I could just buy 2 blenders and run them simultaneously Big Grin

Agreed. But compared to the MSRP of 360 and some change, it makes a little more sense. We got ours from Costco with a wildside jar instead of the standard jar 2 years ago for 250. I felt comfortable paying this due to Costco's no questions asked return policy. If this warranty replacement fails, back to Costco it goes.

I am tempted to get this one. I need a blender, and I hate cheap stuff.
