Is this what they are going for now? Are they still doing the referral for $300?

currently you can pay about $10/year so break even would be 60 years but technically you cannot call yourself a "lifetime" member if you are paying annually.

Yea if they brought back the $300 lifetime memberships Id jump. But its been this $500/$600 for a while as the "deal" and I just have no interest.

$10 /yr is way less than I could find awhile back. Would you provide a link please?

sorry i should have been more clear. $10 would be the net cost. maybe twice a year, cabelas will run a membership promo where you get a $25 cabelas gift card for signing up with nra for $35.

I'm in the same boat, but since the standard price/"MSRP" of the membership went up from $1000 to $1500 last year it's unlikely we'll ever see an offer of $300 for a life membership again. If so it would be during a major, crisis-level push for gun control when the Democrats next control the Presidency or Congress, which is what prompted the last $300 life membership offer in 2013 when the NRA was desperate for resources and members to combat the suite of new gun control laws that were then being debated in Congress, including a major push by the Obama administration and allies for a renewed Assault Weapons Ban. Those proposed laws were only narrowly defeated, and their defeat was due to vigorous opposition by the NRA and other gun rights supporters. I don't mean to be a cheapskate on preserving gun rights, but I'm pretty much destitute at the moment with essentially zero disposable income. However, I'd call in some favors and scrounge up the $300 to get myself on the roster for life no matter my future finances. It would probably be a money-saver in the long run, but that's beside the point. I wish Gun Owners of America and other gun rights organizations would run discounted life membership promotions! I'd get lifed-up, and one day when I have a steady adequate income I'll become a regular donor to this and other causes I consider just. I'll probably hop on the promotions to go to the elevated NRA membership levels beyond life, and just keep going giving a few hundred bucks every couple of years unless I get pissed off at the NRA. I'll probably never get mad at GOA given how consistent they are, but smaller organizations run the risk of going defunct. The only gun rights organization that it's a safe bet will exist generations from now is the NRA, due to how large and influential it is.

The NRA isn't about the second amendment anymore. They are just another part of the political machine that is willing to compromise on rights that should never be compromised.

Life members can vote right away. As an annual membership I believe you need 3 years before you can vote. If that matters to you.

Confirmed tonight- the Lifetime Membership is still being offered for $600 if you call in: (800) 672-3888. You only get the knife instead of the bag or jacket but that suits me fine.
