bug-a-salt via eBay [ebay.com] has Bug-A-Salt 2.0 for $29.99. Shipping is free.

Shipped direct from manufacturer with full factory warranty.

Not as good a price as the current YMMV B&M Sam's Club deal, but close the Popular Fry's deal(s) (with no need for a code or trip to the store).
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

It's just a pinch of salt per shot and I'm not aware of any insects attracted to table salt Confused

I've used this before, it's effective. You can kill things from a distance before they spook and fly away, and you don't need to worry about cleanup in a corner (some salt here and there won't attract bugs). Works on gnats, flies, mosquitoes, spiders, earwigs.. I have even killed cockroaches with it, albeit that is more difficult. It does shock them enough to get them by other means pretty easily though.

Bonus: no chemicals left for pets/kids/etc

This and an electric racquet are all you really need.

Edit: For those asking, salt does not attract bugs, and for some bugs actually repels them like Boric Acid does. I suppose it would attract goats and cows, but I doubt that's a concern.

Why would you want to shoot salt around your house?

There's are no calories in salt. Bugs are not attracted to it. Besides u could always clean up after along with the dead fly.

Not sure, always thought salt would attract pests.

My rule of thumb is not to have things that I would ingest laying around out in the open.
Understood. More for the enjoyment (if your ok shooting insects).

Both a fun and effective device, my friend has had his for years and it still works fine.

To be practical, wouldn't a nice battery powered portable vacuum do the same job while also being highly useful around the house otherwise? Probably.

Smaller bugs are 1-hit kills (gnats, small-to-normal flies, mosquitoes, ants, jumping spiders)
Larger bugs are stunned in 1 hit allowing easy squishing & cleanup with a Kleenex (horseflies, large black widows, armored earwigs/potato bugs),
Tough, armored bugs are often confused/stunned enough to get with 1 hit, but it may take more than 1 hit or quick reflexes (cockroaches, armored beatles, june bugs, and other nasties; try hitting them in the head, it's more effective).

It works best when they are against a wall, floor, or corner, so they feel the brunt of the blast.

Sneak up as much as you can, the closer you hit them the harder it hits, needed for the larger bugs (obviously you can't shoot from across the room)

I thought the better/newer one is the garden edition.
