Does this one feel like a flimsy piece of trash like every other laptop they make, or did they actual use quality components in the case, keyboard, trackpad, etc?

Got quite a bit of love last time there was a similar price. This is $25 more than the last time but still a good price for a machine with 8th Gen CPU and 256GB SSD. Hopefully the coupon works for all.

I've been hoping to see the MX150 version of this on sale sometime soon. There is a budget Acer version that has also not been on sale that has the MX150 for $600. This deal posted would be a better build quality, better screen, and lighter, however would lack the decent GPU as it relies on the integrated card.

This is supposed to be Acers portable/premium line of laptops. Their newly announced Swift 7 will be $1700 come March 7th.

I'm also waiting for a laptop that has the MX150 so I can have my Rocket League fix on the go. Funny that I'm also looking at the CES announcements of new laptops and ultraportables/ultrabooks. I wish there was a 14' or smaller laptop with an MX150 and weigh no more than 3lbs. but I think i'm just dreaming. The chips require some space and would be impossible to fit into a super slim enclosure without sacrificing other parts like battery size. I might as well wait for the Intel/AMD Vega combo laptops to release this year.

That's the model I've been looking at for sometime. I've seen it for less than $700 I believe. But I have not caught a decent deal for that.

Last thread had just the complaint I was afraid of: "cheap, gritty feeling keyboard". Don't know why Acer has such a hard on for that style. And other reviews are saying the screen isn't bright, which is an automatic no go for me since I do a lot of work outside where shade isn't often an option.

There appear to be a few that meet your criteria coming out.

Thanks for this! I'll keep an eye out for it too in case it's on sale.

The thinkpad 480s at 2.9lbs would be perfect! but I think that's the weight for the starting model and would probably increase when adding in the optional MX150 and extra ram.

I also found the asus zenbook, hp envy, and xiaomi air book. Under 3 lbs and having the 150. Xiaomi is the cheapest but probably the hardest to find/deal with. The zenbook looked good.

Man. that IS good. Repped you for providing all the links and info.
Just to let you know. I had almost bought this one
since the graphics in it is faster than the MX150:

I didn't pick up the laptop after making a pickup reservation online at bestbuy.com because I want a smaller laptop. But I am wondering if the new intel+AMD vega chips will come with small form factor ultrabooks/portables sometime this year.

Especially since it's no tax for most states. Costco deal ended over $620 for me vs. the $590 here. Lots of online sites offering cash back on Newegg too.

I think it mainly depends on when you want to upgrade. Since computers go down in value over time due to new technologies coming to the market the longer you wait the better.

No matter which one you buy the price will go down after you buy it. This always drives me crazy.

So if you want the newest tech be prepared to wait or pay for it at peak prices.
