T-Mobile Samsung Trade In: Galaxy S8, S8+, S8 Active, or Note8 - $150 off even with older phones

If you are looking to buy a Galaxy S8, S8+, S8 Active, or Note8 with the following constraints this is a pretty reasonable deal:
  • On T-Mobile
  • No new line to activate
  • Have an old device (like Galaxy S5)
If you do not have the constraints above, there are better deals out there.

$150 off retail price. If you buy it at Costco, you can pay full retail price. Looks like at T-Mobile stores you will have to have an equipment installation plan.

Edit: Bought a Note 8 from Costco and turns out the deal is slightly better than originally reported. You get $150 rebate PLUS value of the trade in PLUS Costco discount. So for my Galaxy Note 8 it was as follows

Retail price: $950
Costco price: $899
WA sales tax: $90
Total Paid in-store: $989

Trade in value of my Galaxy S5: $20
Cash Rebate: $150
Total Rebates: $170

Effective Price: $819

Hmm... 🤔might trade in my S7. Is $150 the minimum or maximum they give you?

It looks like it is a constant $150 for any of the eligible trade in devices.

While this thread is getting downvoted, this is the best deal I could find right now with the constraints above. If switching carriers is an option or you're adding a line, then there are a lot of good deals.

$150 is your rebate, your trade in will likely be around $70 to $80, so totally $220 off

While this may be the better of the T-Mobile deals I've seen recently, it seems a bit lacking this late into the product lifecycle for this current generation of Samsung phones. Speculations right now are that Samsung will be announcing the new S9 phones in February, so you'd basically be buying the previous generation of phone near the end of its lifecycle with relatively little discount. (The BoGo "deal" was only good for customers looking to change to T-Mobile, but was otherwise garbage for any existing T-Mobile customer, especially those with family plans.)
