I ordered another Syma drone from them and paid via PayPal because it looked... well, you know. Received no confirmation email, no shipping notification. Gave it a week and decided to email them to the email associated with their PayPal account. Email bounced back to me saying their mailbox is full. Then the drone arrived a couple of days later on my front porch. Item was perfect. So I can't complain. But wow haha

Ordered this one:

Coupon code SDTY529016WH makes it $30

Not a bad price at all, there are just too many great prices on far better quads to mess with this one. You will need to register the x8 and frankly it's just a big toy. Doesn't have very good video, stability, range or much else.

If you want a toy just buy a smaller x5 version. Parts are cheaper and you'll get about the same use out of it, plus they will survive crashes better. You may get better use because this one is too big to just fly at the park on a moments notice.

If you want a bigger quad look for a sd on a quad for around $200. It's money better spent, no reason to throw 50 at this.

Got it late last night. Opened package to make sure it's not a repack.

Any recommendation on which one you would buy?

I actually wanted an X8 when I got started a couple years ago. people with better experience recommended the X5C instead. I didn't really want it, but they convinced me since it could at least carry a pretty decent 808 #16 keychain camera (which, if you buy it- is better than the camera that comes on the X8 anyway).

I never ended up buying the 808, but it didn't matter. You're not going to get great video on any of these toy quads regardless. The X5C can take a pounding and if you crash or hit something it likely will not matter. I crashed into a parking lot and totaled a motor but the body was ok. Try crashing an X8 like that, or any way.

If you want a toy to mess around with, I'd recommend either the X5C, X5HC or maybe the Cheeson CW4. I give them in that order because I have the most experience with the X5C and the parts are the cheapest of just about anything out there. The CW4 has much better features (it's a neat quad) but the body is more prone to damage, it has more wind surface, is heavier and replacement parts are Very Hard to find. I'm flying an X5C now that I built from parts, has the electronics borrowed from a CW4, it has it's features but none of the Cw4's weaknesses. So pick one of those if you are a newbie and want dirt cheap prices, enjoy reckless flying and crashing. It doesn't matter with these.

If you want something more expensive I've had my eye on the Bebop 2 or perhaps the Hubsan h105S. Either of those can be had for around $200 on a good sale and either is in a class way above the X8. If I was going to buy a quad today- it would be the Bebop2. It has everything I want, small size, amazing 25 minute flight time, great video for something so small, GPS, decent range (with controller) and it's a real flier with POV...not just a video platform. I wouldn't spend $400-600 unless I had a specific reason for super great video on the quad. Like someone was paying me, but that's out the window with the FAA rules.

BosuxRedsux posting ^^^^ above just got the Bebop 2.

Frankly. at this point, I don't want an X8 for any price. To me it doesn't really fit into the current quad landscape. It's a quad you have to register but it doesn't have the features of a decent quad- it's an oversized X5C. Compared to the smaller toy quads, It has better range but if you are flying it line of sight it doesn't matter. It has longer flying time but that doesn't matter either if you are flying it line of sight (you hot swap cheap batteries on the smaller quads). The POV on it will not allow you to really fly it at a distance or get good video so who cares?

Hope this lengthy article helps..........

I've had the plain X8C many years ago but never opened it up. Just looked so big back thn so, this summer. I ordered the X5C and flew it. I have yet to open the X8C. Brand new in Box. But ive ordered and flown many others since. Have not flown the bebop 2 yet. Need open space. Too many powerlines and trees and detective precinct a few blocks away.
