Kobalt 300-Piece Standard (Sae) And Metric Mechanic's Tool Set [lowes.com]

Great set those folks who have a tool chest and don't need a case, as these include foam trays made to go in a standup chest.

Fantastic deal for a huge set of sockets, ratchets, extensions, etc. in both metric and SAE.

As with all Lowes deals, price is YMMV, but it's this price from every Lowes i've checked in multiple zip codes. Speaking from experience, this set is huge and heavy. Well worth the $149.

TIP: Goto Ebay and spend a couple bucks and buy a $20 off $100 coupon. Many are printable and available immediately. Even better deal.

EDIT: Combine with the 11% off rebate (in select markets with competing Menards stores nearby) Link

Nice find, gonna keep my eye on this. Last summer the 250pc [lowes.com] set went on sale for $50 bucks.

Most stores in Portland, OR area have these, all at that price. It's probably a good deal if you need a fairly large socket set AND have a nice tool chest (like the kind Lowes sells) because the drop-in trays are a major plus for a set like this (especially if you're "anal" about organizing things).

The trays aren't the most efficient since there is a lot of "empty space" compared to using "socket bars" and other simpler methods, tossed into a drawer. But this is definitely the "cleanest" way to store a large set of tools if you have the extra drawer space.

Though "made in China" now, the quality of this line of Kobalt tools seems to be pretty decent.
