Great find, I've used these in the past for elevating larger side surround speakers when I couldn't/didn't want to fix mount. I'd add weights or something to the base for security, otherwise they are great, and this is about $4 less than what I paid.

Thanks for the first hand feedback. Why do you need weights? I would imagine they should be secure already? Would they be ok if say... a cat bumped into it?

It depends what you put on top...I was using an expensive set of bookshelf style surrounds, weighed around 25+ lbs, and I didn't feel safe (enough) without the added stability protection. It also depends if you will using strapping or mounting material to attach the speaker. I wasn't so much worried about the whole stand falling (although this was possible), I was more worried about the speaker toppling off if the stand was to wobble. (I didn't want to damage the finish on my speakers with mounting straps or hardware). Hope that helps Smilie
