Yep, it's a turd. i7 branding on this is a bigger joke than the already dual core mobile i7s.

To each his own. I guess this processor is much more energy efficient. And also the price tag is still good for XPS line with 16GB of RAM

It's not worth the trade-off. A several year old laptop can be just as fast. Look at base clock...ouch. Hell, I have a free dell ultrabook from a few years ago that is faster than this excluding single core boost (which even then this can't sustain for more than very fast bursts). Web browsing would drag this thing down.

As I as said, to each his own. Not everyone need a powerfull laptop, some just need a nice loooking and light ultrabook with decent battery life to take it to Starbucks. Lol

Also It is dual core processor not single core

Yes, 1.3 GHz if loaded. Worthless. There a bazillion laptops on sale all the time that are better. An extra .3-.5 lbs won't kill anyone.

Best Buy has changed how some of the student discounts work. They used to be $'s off the current price (regular, sale, clearance, etc.).

However, the conditions on this code/coupon state the following, which means that it doesn't apply to sale prices.

*Valid on SKUs: 5722736, 6077502, 5711031, 5901846, 5709803, 6109503. Coupon is not eligible with other offers. Markdowns taken from regular prices or Was prices."

I'll be one of a few to say that this CPU will be okay for most people. I've been running an experiment and have been using a T510 with a Core i5 M560 for the past two months. All you need is 8GB of ram and an SSD and for most people your experience will be fine. I have a docking station and two extra monitors at work. You would never think an 8 year old laptop could run the laptop screen plus an additional two screens and still be fast but it definitely is.

So my little T510 with an 8 year old Core i5 M560 (which has a 3000 passmark score as compared to this CPU which is 3900) runs fine. I run multiple Chrome windows, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel at the same time. I usually have one browser window open continuously playing movies while I work too. The most important thing for speed in all of this is having an SSD and then having 8GB of ram for having more than a few programs open at the same time.

In any case - unless you are doing video / photo editing, gaming or something where you tax your CPU at 100% for more than a ten seconds at a time this laptop will be fast enough for the majority of users.
