Why should I buy this instead of paying about $10 more to get a portable drive? It seems that portables are more versatile and sturdy. I'm not trying to TC, I'm just trying to get educated. What am I missing here?

Good price for a 4GB. Anyone know if this is a 5400RPM or 7200 RPM? I expect it's 5400 but one never knows. A while back I picked up a 1TB 2 1/2" Toshiba backup and it was 7200 (which I used to upgrade a laptop Smilie Thx OP.

you get higher transfer rates with a desktop drive, also from a re-use standpoint these are more versatile

4TB Seagate is 5900RPM IIRC

I wouldn't with what speed it is. You should definitely seek an SSD to put into a computer anymore. Speeds are incomparable from what I can tell. Many times my laptop would stutter playing games and things and it's been running flawlessly with an SSD

And if just about every other size in between has been priced better per dollar for ÿ6+ months now, almost everywhere. Including 8tb for $140-$150

Even higher end 4tb retail packaged drives aren't much more, ñy

One of the worst "deals" was ive seen this year. Nothing special or unique here. Thought i accidentally sorted by oldest (or weakest/oldest 1st and clicked a 12+ month old threads of a yb

If you only need 4tb and have less $90 to spare then it's a great deal. Cost per TB does go down for bigger drive but most of the time you don't need all the space in one drive. I got a 4tb 2 years ago for my security cam and work files, barely used up half of the capacity

It is NOT a great deal. It is barely an OK deal. I got this for $80 about 3 years ago.
