Why so many TD? A year old (Late 2016) model with $1800 price tag, now selling for $500 less with no taxes for many.

If I had to guess I would say because it is the same price through Adorama and has been for about a week. The Adorama deal also got quite a few thumbs down but is probably better and a more reliable seller than pro electronics through rakuten.

Honestly, and not a trolling comment: it's probably from people who aren't dedicated specifically to either Windows or OS X and realize that price-for-performance, this is not a good deal compared to many Windows laptops.

If you're dedicated to Apple and will only buy their machines, this isn't a horrible price. But if you're flexible and simply want the best bang for your buck regardless of who makes the computer, this really isn't an amazing deal.

Also, the SSD is only 256, which in todays day and age is just not acceptable for a "pro" laptop.

Don't think touchbar models are a big attraction. Feels like they are too much $$$ for too little benefit.

Also when Apple does something new like that it generally comes down in price quite a bit after a few years. Can't help but think the baseline MBP models will have touchbar soon enough (if it isn't dropped as a feature entirely. )

I bought a used 2015 Macbook Pro off eBay recently because it's a much better value compared to the 2016/2017 models. For $100 more than the deal posted here I got a bigger screen (15 inches), double the storage space (512GB), double the RAM (16GB), better graphics card (dedicated 2GB AMD graphics), a better keyboard, and more!

You also got: Slower SSD, smaller trackpad, non-HDR display, no Thunderbolt 3, no touch Apple Pay, and more.

Obviously to each his own. But the 2016/2017 are the "right" MacBooks, for many people.

I was talking only wrt people who only buy apple laptops. Rakuten probably is the biggest factor. I haven't bought anything from them in years, am just not comfortable with it.

It is the nature of macbook price itself, unless it is 40% off or so. I didn't TD tho
