The Great Courses Plus is a new video subscription service that lets you watch free courses (about 8,000 lectures in total) across a wide range of subjects, all taught by some of the best lecturers in the country. The topics cover everything from History, Philosophy, Literature, and Economics, to Math, Science, Professional Development, Cooking, Photography, and more. And you can binge-watch courses in a matter of days by watching videos on your TV, tablet, laptop and smart phone, with the help of apps designed for Apple, Google Play, Kindle Fire, and Roku.

NOTE: This is NOT for college credit; instead it offers various topics that you might be interested in learning more about from experts in their fields. For example: Meditation, Photography, Stargazing, Astronomy, Law, History, Religious history, and Drawing...

Interested in trying out this service? Right now, the Great Courses Plus is offering a special deal for Open Culture readers. You can sign up for a free trial using the code openculture (one word), you can use this service for 30 days ... for free. And then, if you would like, you can get the next two months at 50% off ($9.99/mo. instead of the normal 19.99/mo).

You will need to supply a credit card number up front but if you cancel before the first 30 days, your card won't be charged. If you cancel before the second 30 days, your card will be charged $9.99. And if you cancel before the third month, you will only be charged another $9.99. That means you can learn a tremendous amount over the next 90 days, for a very low fee. It also means you can try out a service that may become one of your ongoing favorites.

The best alternative 'New Year' offer from them is the first month free, but all future months at the default 19.99 price. After this deal, if you choose to keep learning and watching lectures, the monthly subscription will renew each month at the default of 19.99/mo.

Seems like a good deal and good timing for anyone trying to self improve in the new year.

I've listened to a few of these on audible and some have been really great, some are duds, just like with any big catalog of content like this.

Definitely in for at least the 3 months for 20 bucks though. Good post!

Awesome! Got a catalog in the mail and my family had a bunch of courses we were interested in, but cost was pretty high. I didn't know they had a streaming service!

Correction is needed because:
Free Trial granted at check out is for 2 weeks and not 1 month as stated on the Open Culture website.
Still a good deal.
Thank you
