I think you have to login first or maybe it's targeted. The code show up once I login. I purchased this with the code and comes out to be about $46 in CA

Yeah code is different or maybe targeted. I got one and it worked for me, but different numbers.

Good price for the minutes. Now that TF has phones with 16GB onboard storage, these 8GB models really aren't that great.

Good deal for phone plan, but the phone itself is basically trash as cannot be used as a personal phone for long due to the tiny on board storage.

8 gb storage make these completely unusable nowadays. I am looking for another great hsn deal but these 8 gb deals make it worthless for the phone itself at least. Just for the service, it is a good deal, but I was looking for a better phone which I should have jumped on when they had that nice samsung earlier.

I bought similar with Tracfone a few years ago and gave out a Google Voice number that forwarded to the Tracfone number. After the year I bought a new phone with the same deal which gave a new number, but then just changed the GV forward to the new number. I think this is the cheapest way to have a low-medium uaage pre-pay phone.

This seems like a great idea to avoid having to contact Tracfone to transfer service with each new phone (assuming the old phone doesn't have alot of data/minutes left on it). What phone number did you use to originally set up the Google Voice acct - I guess a landline?

(1) Google voice gives a new phone number
(2) You cannot port your land line.
(3) I ported my land line to mobile phone (prepaid) and then from mobile to Google voice, porting cost is one time fee of $10 or $20 (?)

can you tether off this so that you can use the data on other more useful devices?

TF terms don't allow that, so if you do it you run the risk of problems with your account. I don't know much about tethering but I used an app to try it once and it worked - I don't think the native ability to tether is active, but the app worked.

It doesn't show sold out for me.

It means along with the phone, you get a one year service term, and 1200 minutes, 1200 texts and 1200MB of mobile data to use anytime during that year. If you need more minutes you can buy more (you also get additional texts and data). The service expiration date is then extended by whatever length of time was included in the airtime card you bought. Airtime cards can provide 30, 60, 90 day, 6 mo, or 12 mo extensions to your service period, depending on which card you buy. Any unused minutes will roll over indefinitely, provided you continue to buy airtime cards to extend the service date. You can also buy extra texts ($5/1000) or extra data ($10/GB) individually. You can also buy a one year extension to your service contract.

So you never lose purchased minutes/texts/data so long as you continue to keep your service active by purchasing more airtime, or the 1 yr extension.

You can also extend your service end date and add airtime at lower cost by buying another phone bundle like this one. When you transfer your existing phone number to the new phone during activation, your existing service balance is combined with the new service that was bundled with the phone, and your end date is extended by the service term of the new phone. After doing that, if you want to transfer everything back to your first phone, you can do that.
