Lego Ninjago movie or Dunkirk Ultra HD (4K) UltraVoilet on VUDU $12.99

$12.99

Vudu has the price reduced for these two movies in 4K. I used my VUDU credit from T-Mobile this week for an even slicker deal of $7.49.

Dunkirk [vudu.com] has Dobly Vision
Lego Ninjago [vudu.com] has Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision

Both are also on Fandango Now for the same price and if you use the code 4K18 you will save an additional 20% for $10.39. They are both UV and will port to your Vudu account. Then they will port from Vudu to MA. I confirmed both will port to Vudu as UHD as long as you select the UHD version on Fandango Now.

In this thread Dunkirk is $15.99 after that code.

I bought Dunkirk UHD but it ported over to Vudu as HDX. Any ideas why?

Same thing happened to me on the Get Out 4K deal. So I don't think it's a good idea to buy via Fandango if you care about 4K showing up as a matched MA title. Over on the Movies Anywhere site, I can't tell what quality it thinks I own, because there're no indicators that I can see.

Should say "or" in the title instead of "and"

4K streaming is such a scam, gonna still need physical media for HDR and Atmos, these discs are 100gbs for a reason.

I had no idea all my TV's are 1080p but eventually streaming will support the 4k format.

It already does, 4k, hdr, hdr10 and dolby atmos all supported on streaming, if your tv has those features AND the movie has those features. Its a bit of a confusing mess at this time though. For instance, my 4k sony tv has vudu app, but that app wont support 4k. A roku ultra vudu app does support 4k with hdr though.

I just went 4k with a TV, Receiver and Xbox One X -- however i'm leery of investing in these 4k streaming movies and 'buying' them. I'd rather have them on disc for quality purposes and space. My personal rips of 4k movies, 5 of them, nearly totaled 250 gb's as opposed to my 1080p and 720p rips were no where near that amount (obviously). I can't justify dedicating that much space for 4k movies.

I can't find any detailed analysis done or consensus on UHD discs vs 4k streaming, are the differences negligible or are most thinking UHD discs are the way to go?

I'd go with physical media. I can't vouch for 4k streaming quality but AT&T sends me warning emails monthly saying that they're going to charge me if I go over my data limit. I stream 1080p at best currently...

Totally hear you on owning physical. Physical will probably be better than streaming in terms of video and audio quality for some time. Unless you do a side by side comparison, you'd never know, or at least not most people. I like streaming when the price is right. I like the portability, the laziness of not having to get a disc out and play it. If a 4k disc is $10 I jump on it. If I can own a UHD steam movie for under $8 and I want the movie, i'll get the stream. Hopefully vudu, ultraviolet, and movies anywhere or whatever carries my license for the movies out lives me.
