Dell released a really sweet XPS 15 at CES. Must be clearing stock of the old stuff.

That's subjective. Using a 15" laptop in tablet mode is unwieldy. Other than the 2-in-1, the new XPS is merely an incremental improvement with modest hardware upgrades.

Also, the baseline model will cost almost as much as this one.

True. But it's an upgrade nevertheless. Plus this is a pretty bad deal on the laptop. You have to pay another $100 bucks in tax, when it was just $1380 on eBay, tax free, less than a month ago.

Here's a link describing the new 15 coming out this spring. https://www.pcworld.com/article/3...-vega.html

Not a great deal it seems. This had come down to $1380 before for the 4k model.

DELL XPS15 Deal w/ 4K Screen 16GB RAM/512GB SSD Storage (i7 Sevent Gen)

https://slickdeals.net/f/11008863-dell-xps-15-15-6-4k-touch-intel-i7-nvidia-gtx-1050-512gb-ssd-16gb-ram-for-1379-99-free-shipping-ebay-daily-deal

I had gone for the 1080p model of this a month back. Bought that one for $1200 (excluding tax). Only regret I have for the 1080p model that I bought is that it doesn't have a finger priny reader that can unlock the laptop quickly.

My friend had bought the 1TB 4k model from Costco. He tells that the battery drains more quickly than he would like it to.

So, it seems there is always that trade-off when one chooses the beautiful 4k screen over the 1080p.

Should have a 1080 GPU at this price point, IMO.
Not quite possible right now in a thin chassis like the Dell XPS 15.

Razer Blade Pro is close to what you want probably, but that thing costs like 4000.

Got the base i7 version in March. Thinking to upgrade to the new 2 in 1 mode. After all, 8G RAM and 256G are not enough now
