Historic low price according to that triple-camel pricetracking site:

Link [amazon.com]

Gold-tone version with hard case, same price [amazon.com] (thanks jboosamara)

I'm reminded of a scene from M.A.S.H. where an ailing Lt. Colonel Henry Blake asks Corporal Radar O' Reilly to look in his ear for signs of infection. As Radar peers through the otoscope for the first time, an anxious Colonel Blake asks him what he sees. Radar says in awe, "It looks just like a little Nativity Scene!"

Okay, this is not going to be as good or as durable as a $500 Welsh-Allyn otoscope, but for slightly less than twenty bucks...who cares? It will pay for itself many times over the first time you avoid a doctor's visit by diagnosing malignant otitis, or a cholesteatoma, or that earwig that crawled out of Lawrence Harvey's ear on Night Gallery ("I have bad news... it was a female"). (Reps to anyone who remembers that episode). And nearly 1400 Amazon reviews peg it at 4.5 stars, average.

People really should not be buying these kinds of things unless they are trained in their use. You could seriously hurt someone with these types of things if you dont know what youre doing

These are great for small electronics diagnosis and repair when you can't spring for a Dino-lite

Would love to see something like this that could either cast or otherwise transmit the picture to another screen so you could diagnose yourself. Probably exists, but nowhere near as cheap as this.

EDIT: I was wrong. Getting this instead:

What are you gonna do self diagnosing an ear infection? Call your doc and tell them to take your word for it for the rx?

Right. Trying to sell your product by attacking counterfeiters and fake reviews? Weird.

It's the new meta for fake reviews. Game fakespot and then boast about it.

Audiologist here. A good pocket otoscope is $150, not $500. This would be helpful for seeing if your kid pushed something into their ear or had a bunch of wax, but I wouldn't rely on it for looking for an ear infection.
