Should be an instant buy for anyone remotely thinking of a build.

I sound like a broken record because I keep posting this on cheap PSUs... If you have already sprang for a $400 or more graphics card, don't cheap out on your PSU. Had a CX750M I picked up from Best Buy when I first bought my new GTX 1070. 1070 slowly developed coil whine and eventually just got unbearable; could even hear it through headphones sometimes. After researching I see that many people complaining about coil whine with GTX 10 series cards online also had Corsair CX PSUs. So I ordered an EVGA Supernova replacement PSU to test the theory, installed, and no more coil whine.

These CX series supplies tend to be on the mid to low end on PSU benchmarks. For that reason and for my own experience, I would not recommend unless you're on a tight budget.

Retail on that SeaSonic I mentioned is $60 I believe, with a $20 rebate. I'm seeing some reviews and posts online that say the tech is older in that model and it's at EOL and that newer PSUs from other brands, Corsair being one of them, would be better. I'm not looking for anything over the top, just something that's going to be reliable for a i5 build with some light games every now and then...mostly going to be a work machine. Looking to do a ITX build in a Core V1 case, so the modular options might be the way to go unless I'm told otherwise. Would love to get some more opinions...

I know PSU have better quality assurance over other components, but be careful with mail in rebates with Newegg. I actually recently bought a Msi mother board with a MR and it was DOA. However it was the weekeday so I decided to get all the MR done in one night. When I started the build the mother board didn't work. I had to put up a fight for Newegg to accept a refund (they wouldn't replace it). They charged me a $10 fee to make sure I didn't get my rebate. They also told me there was nothing they could do and to contact msi. Keep in might this was 4 days after the mother board being shipped to me.

Perfect timing. In for one! I had ordered the seasonic focus plus which is an excellent psu but for $80. I'll be saving $30 here. Only thing this is not fully modular, which is ok because I'll be using the two built in anyways. Plus my case doesn't have a window.
