Was in this thread looking at XPSs and thanks to Mysterycongo and JonnyJett who mentioned to check out openbox at Bestbuy where they picked up some really tweaked out Yogas for cheap. I snagged one here in Austin and there were still a few more around the area (south austin and beecave). Seems Bestbuy is doing openbox-blowouts on many items as the floor was littered with all kinds of goodies in each department.

Slightly scuffed ones are priced at $909. Slightly more if near perfect. Salesperson talked to Manager and knocked off another $15 for a total of 894.99 before tax.

Call local Bestbuy and ask them to check openbox availability for SKU: 5722755. They still had "new" ones out on display on the floor.

Salesperson said this model is end of lifecycle so maybe some more discounts to come if you wait.

NOTE: online "openbox" prices don't reflect the same as the internal system. Call your local store and they can look up other stores.

I don't think that's correct, the 720 is still a current model and the 730 has yet to be announced, yet alone released.

For the 256 GB SSD version [bestbuy.com], I'm not seeing the nVidia GTX 1050, product specification says Intel® HD Graphics 630
"On-processor graphics with shared video memory provide everyday image quality for Internet use, basic photo editing and casual gaming." Lenovo's product page for 80X7001TUS [lenovo.com] agrees

The 512 GB SSD version [bestbuy.com] says it has the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics
Backed by dedicated video memory for a fast, advanced GPU. Render multiple videos, play advanced games, edit photos — or do all three at once.

256 GB: Satisfactory $799.99, Excellent $849.99, Excellent Certified $899.99
512 GB: Satisfactory $979.99. Excellent $1161.99

YMMV with prices in store.

Those online openbox prices are odd. When buying the one in their store he checked the other stores and there was another in the same condition ("satisfactory") for $909 and another one that was "a little more". JonnyJett said he also got the same price of $909 in Orange County but that store manager also gave him another 10% off.

Good luck!

Thanks, OP. You should probably remove the "GTX 1050" from the post title as the lower specced model does not have the GTX 1050.

Not sure what you mean by lower spec. Post from mischlep is a totally different SKU/Machine and wrong. It's most certainly in the laptop I have here as listed device manager. Although I haven't figured out if it's 2GB or 4GB yet as i can't force it to switch over from internal graphics...

used dxdiag since checking advanced would auto default to internal graphics. 2GB 1050 confirmed.

Never mind. I was thinking you got a 256GB laptop based off the price you paid. My error. Thank you for sharing the deal, OP.

All good. I could have described it better to start. This one has loads more on top of that lower level one. An additional 256GB more storage, 8GB more ram, a 4k touch Display, 2GB Nvidia 1050, and a fingerprint reader. Seemed similarly spec'd to most $1300-$1400 setups out at the moment.

Bottom line, the 'open box' pricing feature on the website doesn't seem to be as accurate as the systems that they use in store.

I've been keeping my eye on these and this is about as good as I've seen since Black Friday or so. They announced dell xps 15 2 in 1 and HP Spectre 360 upgrades at CES this year that are essentially the same machine with a better GPU and newer CPU that will be launching in March so I can see this price going down lower soon though.

For what it's worth I stopped into a Best Buy in Seattle and they were 1090 and included a free office subscription, I passed.
