Amazon is clearing out these Element TVs w/firetv built in - the only one with stock is the 65" at $650 (originally $899.99) now $650 with Free Scheduled Delivery. FYI this TV apparently sold out at $765 on Cyber Monday!

"The Fire TV experience is built in so you can enjoy tens of thousands of channels, apps, and Alexa skills. Get universal search results across over 190 channels and apps including Netflix, Hulu, HBO NOW, SHOWTIME, STARZ, and Prime Video. Includes Voice Remote w/Alexa which allows you to control live TV playback, launch apps, search for TV shows, play music, switch inputs, control smart home devices, and much more. Prime members get unlimited access to Prime Video including Thursday Night Football, thousands of movies, and TV episodes at no additional cost. Multiple device input/output options: 4 HDMI 2.0 including 1 with ARC, 1 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0, SD card, Ethernet, composite/component, headphone, optical audio out."
I scanned many of the 1-star reviews, biggest complaints seem to be about display colors. The "Top positive review" (4-star review by 'Troy' on July 5, 2017) goes through the process of calibrating to optimal display settings, seems like this would fix many complaints. A few had issues with it disconnecting from internet. There are much better tvs for more $$$, but seems like a solid deal for a decent 4K UHD smart tv at the price...

Hmm. I was interested because I love Alexa and the price was good, so I did some research. This review was pretty good:

No HDR = PASS

Spend some extra money and get the p series Vizio refurb 65" for $900 from Walmart

if you're going to go cheap and big, why not just settle for 1080p and pay even less

You hypocrysize yourself with the last sentence. The reason to get this over a big 1080p is because hey why not spend a little more for 4k

Curious about what you mean by this. AFAIK the only "ads" are on the 'fire tv' interface (shown in the pic), usually prime video-related content at the top of the screen and not at all intrusive

Think the point was that HDR has much more impact than 4K on a TV this size at a normal viewing distance.

So without HDR just get a cheap tv, 1080p vs 4K in a cheap TV would not have a huge impact.

just trying to point out the main benefit of 4k is hdr and wcg, not resolution, which isn't really detectable at normal viewing distances. the tv i suggested is normally worth $1500 brand new

the tv in this op is a POS. end of story.

I agree benefits of HDR & WGR and this lacks both. Just sharing a deal that, by all accounts, is pretty solid for a 65" 4K smart tv. Fact is I don't see any sub-$650 1080p smart tvs as you suggested, this just might be a fit for someone wanting a larger tv and not paying the extra $250 for your recommendation
