The kit is cool and totally worth getting (for free, essentially) if you need a raspberry pi. It's a great project if you just want to blow a few hours and play around with the voice apis and such. It's really well-made and well thought-out. End goal: you can have voice initiate anything you can script. If it can be run via python it can be initiated with voice in a convenient manner.

Another cheap way to build something similar is to get your hands on PS3 Eye cameras which have a Mic array and cost between $2 and $4 used.

It's just a generic $5 off $30 coupon. It's not specific to the product or category. Should be the first coupon on the page.
