FYI: Microcenter (has/had/have) these for $67 in-store.

http://www.microcenter.com/produc...rive_-_oem

Sold out in many places.

BTW, does anyone know what TGMR is? Is it more similar to PMR (Perpendicular) or SMR (Shingle)?
I mean I know what TGMR stands, I just don't know if it's any good for active desktop or maybe RAID. ??

I'm guessing this isn't live yet? I only see Sat's code in my mailbox so far.

TGMR can be used with either - it's associated with head technology not the media
so it can be found in PMR drives like this one or the Archive SMR series

FYI: The 8tb in these tend to have terrible reviews on new egg and seem to fail within a few months.

I noticed the 4TB drive is ST4000DM005 which has only 64MB, but ST4000DM004 has 256MB cache. Can someone educate me what the differences are between these two models?

It is speculated that the ST4000DM005 (3-platter) is PMR while the ST4000DM004 SMR (2-platter).

Thanks, from what I have googled about PMR and SMR, I will go for DM004 then!

The 8TB drive has pretty decent reviews on Amazon, nowhere near Newegg reviews.
