When it comes to HDR, the X690e performance could be better, as the lack of local dimming and disappointing HDR peak brightness won't make highlights pop much more than what you would see on a normal SDR TV. When you add the lack of a wide color gamut and bit depth, it just confirms that this TV won't be the best option to be amazed by HDR content.

Thank you for this reply. Ive read a few reviews. Someone on best buy even claimed it to be wonderful for ps4 with hdr and the website says no hdr. So i do ask questions just for further verification. Rtings doesn't have my hisense model but thanks for that link. I will use this in the future instead of piss off the internet lol. My holiday return ends today. looks like i will be keeping the hisense for 350

I decided to bite on this one simply because a Sony is most convenient for me as all the bedroom gear is Sony. Purchased from ABT instead of Best Buy as I wasn't charged sales tax and delivery was free. PayPal gave me 6-months to pay so the sting of purchase is delayed and Best Buy didn't get the deal. It will work for my meager needs so thanks OP.

If your near your bestbuy you can get your 20$ back. I just did that. Just take your receipt and thats it. Today is the last day you can do it though.

For those that care about the smart features aspect, this is not an Android TV. It has basic Sony OS.

With Superbowl around the corner, I'd say hold off on it.

Yep I took my receipt in for the additional 20 back yesterday at Best Buy also.

Set is great solid picture and most needed apps (Amazon, Netflix, Youtube etc are on board.)
For $429.00 the color balance is better than anything else in this price point.
Brightness is more than adequate

How well does this set handle non-hd content (DVD, wii, MP4)? Is it really blurry? And if I plug a USB stick loaded with MP4 movies (yes, I own them all on DVD), will they play through the tv or do I need to use a roku ultra or PS4? Thanks in advance.

One last big question...how is the sound? I know it can't be great, but I'm trying to get by without a sound bar as they all block the bottom of the tv screen...or if I place them behind...I can't control the volume My room is about 12x12.

Not sure about USB......

Cable picture and Apps have been flawless for me at least.
Sound is fine once you adjust....

Again for its price point I think you will be happy once you fine tune it. its half the price of the 900XE.

It's FP. Use Chase Pay (Freedom Card) at the register. Pay with QR, and you'll get $40 back (in points I believe). I just purchased it myself using chase pay so my net will be $390.
