This is a great case - fits better than my other ones and can easily be made to look more like an NES with a little black tape

I wish we could buy Nintendo stickers (the transparent type)

$25 vs $7? Really 3.5 times better?
I'd rather buy real NES mini.

Does anyone have instructions or a good deal on Pi 3 just for the heck of it? I suppose these cases are meant for emulators and roms, right? Are they still illegal? What's the legality?

So you just marked the other thread expired so you could post it again yourself?

These cased are fine. I made one for my brother and he loves it. $7 is a steal. I had to pay $15 for one off of Etsy during Christmas 2016.

I usually keep a fully assembled one around as a back-up gift. It seems that both 20-40 something year olds can find an old game they love, so it's a solid "oops I forgot your birthday" gift.

ROM legality is a gray area. Some say that if you own the old cartridge you are legally covered. However DRM laws say that ripping CDs to make mp3s are illegal, so why is it illegal in one case and not the other? (just speculation, I don't actually know the right answer).

Anyway, there are a TON of Homebrew ROMs that are totally legal. Also Minecraft is completely free. You can do a lot with a raspberry pi too other than emulation. Maybe you want to disguise a Kodi box as a mini NES, or turn an old printer into a wireless one (raspberry pi zero would be adequate in this case though).

It's a good case for a very capable little computer. TU op.

I got one of these. To me they're cheaply made and didn't fit together very well without the addition of tape to hold it together. Not worth the $7 even if it is kinda neat looking.

I bought one of these when it was posted a week or two ago. The company name is embedded in the plastic - it's not painted on so not easily removed, and its presence entirely spoils the aesthetic. Also in case anyone is assuming all NES style cases are the same - they're not. This is not the version with functional buttons.

Ir's OK as a gimmick and the pricing is ballpark for Pi cases, though my feeling is that all Pi cases are somewhat overpriced.

I with you. Having worked with both, the nespi is worth the extra money if you care at all about the looks of the original system, and just build quality overall.

Legality is a funny thing. Corrupt paid for by lobbyists, politicians make laws fracking the working man at every turn notice the recent tax breaks for rich or net neutrality. Stealing is stealing rich people are covered by law and lawyers doesnt make their stealing any better or worse. So why should you rippling a cd you own or borrowed matter? Cause some mouth piece in a monopoly man costume told you? Viva la revolution.

That thread died and was moved to Deal Talk on January 5th. It was mentioned at least twice in thread that it was OOS here and here and was also reported by 3 users as being expired. Our QA team checked it at the time and moved it to Deal Talk then. 10 days ago.

There is nothing wrong with a user posting a new thread when the previous thread is in Deal Talk, especially when the old one has been there for a while Wink Nothing shady in that at all.
