Picture Settings for the S401/403/405

For cable/satellite TV:

TV Brightness: Brighter
Picture Mode: Normal For Roku apps, use Vivid

Advanced Picture Settings:
Dynamic Contrast: high for Roku apps, turn off
Backlight: 100
Brightness 42
Contrast 100
Sharpness 66
Color 55
Tint 0
Color Temperature cool

Depending on your room, tweak from here. Some may prefer a normal color temperature to cool, but it will decrease the peak brightness and whites of the set.

I have this TV and no complaints but with the 5 & 6 coming out in a few months, they should be dropping a lot more soon

Hoping for the p series to drop soon with the new 6 coming out, but it just has features I'd like to have over this one, unfortunately.

Still, good deal on this set!

Managed to grab this TV for $175 right around BF. Was great for the price, but at $310 the 55" version has been available for similar price.

This is a great TV as long as you aren't set on the HDR. The brightness drops significantly in HDR mode, making it very difficult to make out details in movies / games (even in a pitch black room). Otherwise it is a great 4K set for the cost. I purchased this during Black Friday a Target to hold me over with the intention of getting a higher end HDR set when they drop over time. I can enjoy 4K now while waiting for the top TVs of today to drop in price throughout the year Smilie

This is a great TV for the price. (Probably was cheaper than this price earlier)

The 55" has been in this range. No issues yet with the TCL thus far. Seems a bit pricey for the 49".
General TV advice: check for damage upon delivery even if the box looks okay or won't install it for a while. Most retailers won't replace a damaged one if you wait too long for a damage claim.

I don't have a problem making out details in games in HDR mode, but I do set my brightness up. It's not a very bright set, but it hasn't interfered with my usage of it. I did set up some bias lighting for it though and it seems to help.
