Bought another cheap Realtek one like this, and it takes some work to get running. Doesn't seem to get it to work with wavemon for some reason, and obviously stuff like injection/monitor mode is out of the question AFAIK. Still, it was able to connect which is what matters.

Company is called "Anewish" which sounds like either a Laurel and Hardy bit or a Mel Brooks "Spaceballs" joke.

I think my phone is hacked. Past two days have been researching the raspberry pi 3 and how to get wifi. I was just looking on amazon for one this morning for one of these and found one for $9.49, no code needed. (subscribe and save). Haven't researched the brand though.

$0.11 cents cheaper than the current "#1 choice for wifi adapter," which is also a 600mbps usb antenna with some starting 4 letters in the company name (ANEW), for whatever that's worth. I'd assume they're basically the same thing.

Not particularly convinced this is a special deal but I suppose cheaper is cheaper.

Looking at OPs posting history, pretty much everything posted is for cheap Chinese no-brand items with a promo codes... If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, might just be a...shill/paid post? Don't support the shill posts and posters in destroying the SD community.

What's the cheapest brand version of this currently?

I don't know if this product is good or bad...I just know that when people post products (if that's the OPs case) that they have not researched and verified, that they just post them because they have an agreement with a promoter to get paid to post...that this is bad for the community. This community used to be the place to come for researched and vetted products, from a community of users you could trust. But now even it seems like the pages just fill up with all these Chinese generic brands, with often suspect Amazon reviews, that cloud the usefulness of the community. People see that a user has some rep points, and they see all the thumb up...and they assume that it MUST be a great deal, and they just jump on it.

And, a quick search on eBay found what looks to be identical for less: https://www.ebay.com/itm/600-Mbps...Swk~ZZ5dNi

As for other options, I haven't had a chance to search everything out there...but for me, I would take a level down on speed to be assured I'm dealing with a company that will not only be around in a year, but also has a real US prescience, so will be held accountable if something does go wrong. So, I would rather go for a speed-down version from a more trusted and vetted source.

I bought this last week by coincidence, as well as another adapter with a larger antenna. Both, use the same exact Realtek Wi-Fi adapter driver and both cane with disks with the files on them. However, I chose to directly download the drivers from Realtek as I'm very apprehensive installing from a disk that's from an unknown company.

I bought them cause I thought, hoped having an antennae would further improve connectivity and reduce latency when gaming. Very nominal results, but they work.

I have 1 of these, getting them to work in Linux is a bit of a PITA and I believe you have to recompile the module every time you upgrade the kernel.

What they said. I got more than one email offering cash for thumbs up and a lot more (or products) for posts. I did not get contacted by slick deals until i started reporting posts suggesting the posters are accepting the offers. Even than they stated some such that these posts are legit (after all slick deals makes money off these) but did ask me to forward the emails.

I gave up trying to help if its ignored. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Anyway do your best judgements and definitely research via fakespot and ccc. As an aside everything is made in china and some of the stuff is just as good as the legit. I would still rather go with rosewill vs this brand

Yes this is not even worth it at 10 bucks.. WAY too much work.. especially when others can do connection with base raspberry pi install totally worth the extra 2-5 bucks to have one immediately supported.. will never buy another one of these again.
