Looks like a solid phone, however I've never given Sony a try. I've never been impressed with their offerings.

I am curious why you were not impressed. My wife and I are using Sony Xperia phones for the last 2+ years (Z3 dual and Z3+) and we are pretty happy. We bought them under $400 for specs that rival other $500+ flagships. They are still going strong. Just to add, I am using dual SIM and I have the flexibility to add MVNO data plans when I travel.

The Sony fingerprint situation for the past few years is also very disappointing. I don't care what lawsuit you lost don't try to sell me a flagship phone in 2016 or 2017 with no fingerprint scanner in the USA.

Normally with Sony you have to choose a US warranty and a disabled fingerprint scanner OR an international version with the fingerprint scanner and no US warranty.

So this is the US version or the international version?

Hopefully nobody buys it and has an issue and then finds out they have no warranty

Well our Sony options here in the USA are VERY slim unless we pick up an unlocked one that happens to have the correct frequency bands. But in general for the price Sony flagship phones have had inferior camera software vs Samsung/Apple/LG. All other specifications are generally on par with other flagships, however each years model usually has some downfall vs that years Samsung flagship, Sony's yearly fumble on their flagship reminds me of HTC; they try really hard but they usually mess up on one feature that costs them that year. The one place that Sony shines WAY over it's competition is in its smaller phones. Which is where this model comes in, at 5.0" there's really nothing like it in the Android world. The smallest competitor phones are going to be around 5.2-5.3" screen size and usually they are lower mid-range offerings with significantly inferior cameras/processor to the Sony 5.0" phone.

Tl;dr: Sony doesn't offer many options in the USA, and other manufacturers usually have better flagships. But Sony kicks butt in the 5.0" category.

This or the honor 7x? give up fingerprint for NFC? Hopefully this will get Oreo even though it's supposed to, things could change. 2016 phone scares me as that usually means any security updates could be very few from this point on out.

Regarding fingerprint scanner, I am not sure. I will update once I have it on Wednesday. But for $213, I don't mind lack of fingerprint scanner.

Regarding warranty, B&H are authorized Sony dealer and so no issues unlike Amazon marketplace sellers. You can see them listen on Sony website. https://www.sonymobile.com/us/pro...ria-x/buy/

Based on my past experience, this phone could be supported for at least next couple of years. By that time, this $225 is already worth and time to buy a new phone.

True they have a US version but the dual SIM you posted is not the US version. So you open the box and the fingerprint sensor works when you set up the phone. That means you clearly got the international version with no US warranty and B&H just made a listing error?

Yes, LTE on both. Can select either one. Bands should work as per my search. But please verify with bands for your carrier since I bought this for use in India. Not sure about WiFi calling.

Ok. When I look at the 32 GB single SIM version and 64 GB dual SIM version, both show "Limited 1-Year Warranty".
