Been desperate for a new router after getting too many smart devices. Was going to pull the trigger on a couple of ASUS ones to make a mesh network, but this is fantastic. Thank you!

I currently have an Asus 1900 (68R). If I get another Asus, I can form an AiNetwork. Any comments?

Never understood how can one justify paying $200 let alone $268 for a router.
It really comes down to how many devices you have and simultaneous use. If you have ip cameras, tablets, phones, laptops, gaming consoles, smart tvs, and streaming devices like roku and wifi printers, you will benefit from the mu-mimo capabilities the higher end routes provide.
It comes down to the use of your network and how that bandwidth is allocated to your devices.

What are you using for your internet?

--
Does anyone own one of these? How does this compare to Netgear X6S?
We just upgraded to gigabit internet and our current router cannot handle 1gbps WAN <-> LAN.

One thing I don't like about Netgears is that you cannot limit the guest wifi speed using guest wifi settings, and there is no QoS at all.
How is it with this router?

Speeds look good, but I didn't read the whole thing

Yes. You can buy any other compatible Asus router and form a mesh network with the beta AiMesh firmware.

I would suggest buying a TMobile Asus Refurb for $40 ish, flash it with stock firmware and convert it to RT-AC68U and use it. Cheapest way to implement the Mesh network Smilie
