New Item, wont come up on their search engine / TV filters unless searching for exact model. Good deal if looking for cheap 4k TV.

FWIW, the Sceptre U435-CV (the assumed predecessor to this, assuming this is not just a rebrand of that tv) is an RGBW panel. While it's capable of 60hz 4:4:4 as a signal, the output is missing color information due to the subpixel pattern, sort of similar to 4:2:2 (but not the same degradation, the effect here is a bit more of a screen door effect).

Without any other information present, I would personally assume that these are also RGBW screens, given the price (LG is guilty of this too, and it seems to be creeping into most of the 40-43" tv screen panels as a cost cutting measure, so it's worth assuming as a likelihood at this price point and given Sceptre's history, until someone can actually examine one in person). I would personally avoid buying these as a computer monitor unless you're sure you're going to seriously test it ASAP and be ready to return it.

Note that other issues with the U435-CV included odd issues related to the filter processing, and it defaulted to a filter for 1080p instead of 4k, creating some issues with display accuracy as a monitor, notably some color banding that could occur. While this could be changed in the maintenance menus (requiring a special access code to get to), the settings did not stay between power offs, which is super annoying. Sceptre repeatedly ignored all calls to release a fixed firmware that could either save the advanced settings when changed or could at least start off with 4k appropriate filters selected for 4k resolution content.

You could roll the dice on this if you're desperate to try to save every penny, but honestly I'd try to snag a Samsung 6300/6290 40" or 43" at this point, if it were me. They're RGB subpixel with 4:4:4 60hz (requires setting the correct input mode for the hdmi port(s), but once it's done it stays set and it's not a hassle). Apparently the 40 and 43" Samsungs are IPS instead of VA, at least according to rtings. Color is fantastic on them (but not true wide gamut HDR), easily comparable to the cheaper (AH-IPS with 6bit+FRC color) 2015 Ultrasharps (since that's what I have easily here to compare with). By comparison the Sceptre U435 looks a bit washed out, even if it does manage some really bright whites.

And it's worth noting that while colored text on the Sceptre U435 is still legible (I coded on it from home for a time, so it's functional for that) it's also not ideally clear, and not as clear as white text on black or vice versa (regardless of what the colored text has as a background, the issue becomes the RGBW subpixel pattern mangling the lines into tiny jaggies instead). Not as bad as 4:2:0 or even 4:2:2 text, but it's notably not the same as a true 4:4:4 with RGB subpixel configuration.

We have a Sceptre U435, a Seiki 39" 4k, a Samsung 6300 43", and a Samsung 6290 40". Even at $300 I'd say the Samsungs are worth it over the Sceptre. Whether or not this Sceptre is the same as the U435 or suffers from the same issues is an open question right now, but in the absence of any information I'd assume this isn't going to be any better. I saw this on Walmart's site last week and tried googling all over and couldn't find anything, so didn't even bother posting it (personally I don't see the point of a 40" 4k tv except as a monitor , at normal tv viewing distances you may as well be getting a 1080 screen if it will save you some money).

It's a $200 TV. Quit yapping your mouth about the quality as if you deserve a movie theater for this price.

No reviews of the tv is disappointing. However 200 is a very cheap price.

I can't find anything on that KU-435 part number. I'm wondering if this is really just the Sceptre U435CV?

this looks to be the new model just launched a week ago - I assume it does 4:4:4?
