Nonsense, thats like saying you dont need to do bench press because you can just do push ups.

You cant do tricep pushdowns with a pull up bar. Or bicep curls, or seated rows for lower back. You also wont get a good lat workout with pull ups if upper body strength is to low to do enough of them.

A compact lat machine like this one is essential to any home gym. I've owned a similar one for almost 20 years and have used the crap out of it to demolish lats, tris and lower back. Pull ups are just a finisher.

I'm kind of surprised at the comments here, but I'll attempt at a fair look at this deal. I be been a weight lifter and runner for about two years. I have just changed over to a new routine, and it asks for a lat machine. I have a home gym, that consists of a power rack with a barbell set, dumbbells, dip belt, etc. I consider myself muscular but not "jacked". I am 6'0", 172lbs on a slow bulk. I have definition and a six pack.. think spider man instead of the hulk. Anyway I think this is a good deal given the quality of materials is there. This argument between what's better between body weight exercises or this particular machine is moot because of how expansive all of their uses are. You can get strong with body weight work, absolutely. You don't need this piece of equipment to achieve that, but would I want one for me? Yep. So much so I made my own for my power rack (used great materials and I'm handy.. so it wasn't too expensive). If I had the room and or saw this earlier.. I'd have seriously considered it. You don't need/need this thing but it's incredibly nice for my own personal needs. Funny enough, I use this AND do pull ups/chin ups as part of my workout. Hope this helps some.

A pull up bar is simpler, cheaper, and I believe, more effective.

Agreed, I own a pullups and do them before deadlifts on back day but I use to go to the gym and used the lat pull down. I could feel the soreness set in hard from that thing a day or so later. Plus low rows work wonderfully for thickness mid back.

Are you Mr. Olympia or something? A pull up bar is more than sufficient for the vast majority of people. You can get more than sufficiently jacked with a pull up bar, simple bench, and kettle bells.

Slickdeals isn't meathead central.
Jacked with a pull up bar? Good one.

Agreed, pull up bar is all you need. If pull-up is too easy add some weight with a weight belt or backpack

I'd bet on a dedicated body weight athlete any day over the average gym machine and weight user in strength, musculature, endurance, and general health.
An athlete compared to the average gym-goer, great comparison. If you want, there are videos on Youtube where different "professions" compete against one another, it's called strength wars.
