Honest question...not a big makeup user, but this is the second time in two weeks this deal has come around. Is this truly a great deal for a good product, or is this a standard discount that can be found on similar beauty sets throughout the year? How is this product compared to other "higher-end" department store brands?

I cant speak to your other questions, because I am barely a lipcolor user (and I use dept store brands) - but while yes this is the second time in 2 weeks this has popped up, it has never been with a gift set for this price before. So you never know if/when they might be gone for good. Even BF, in order to even get this set alone for $49.50 you had to spend $35 first.

I think EA is an excellent brand, I think they excel in the pressed powder products such as eyeshadow and blush. Color selection is nice for folks who like a more traditional palette.

Saying that, I've passed on the sets such as this the past couple years due to the repetition of products and the full spectrum of colors. I don't wear green or blue eyeshadow or dark lipstick, so unless you like a broader spectrum, there's going to be a lot you won't wear. If you like a broad spectrum, I will say I've always been pleased with their products.

The sets are available every year at Xmas time, but yes, after the holiday the trick is to grab it without the extra purchase and with the free gift.
