The Acer Aspire E5 series SHOULD have an easily accessible m.2 slot for an SSD upgrade although I've not verified that for this model. I have the Aspire E5-575-33BM and F5-573-58VX for which this is true so I'm fairly confident it's the same for this model. The bottom bay can be opened with just a screwdriver and allows access to RAM, the m.2 and 2.5" bay. No need for pry tools. At worst, you can take out the HDD and put in a 2.5" SATA SSD.

A10-9600P performs like a 5th gen i5 or 7th gen i3 ULV (15W) CPU according to PassMark, but with a much better iGPU.

I know people crap on Acer but I think it's a good value.

Random question: if it performs like a 7th gen i3 ulv why not get that?
B01K1IO3QW is the Asin on Amazon
aren't Intel's far more energy efficient than the A10's? if it's for the GPU, nobody is gaming on that

People do game on iGPUs believe it or not Smilie But usually for games like the Sims, RPGs, and RTSs on low settings, in which case going from an Intel 620 to this makes a difference.

A few other points
  • The Aspire E linked above comes with 4GB RAM vs 8GB. As I said I own the E5-575-33BM and I've had to upgrade it just to do some basic video editing.
  • Newegg is tax free in most states whereas Amazon collects taxes in every state (except those without a sales tax)
  • The i3-7100U and A10-9600P both have a 15W TDP with roughly the same performance, so the Intel is not more power efficient.
  • Blue laptop vs boring black/silver Big Grin
