I remember when this was $1500. Seems like a fun toy to mess around with. still too expensive for me to bite but at $300 it's getting there.

This camera has a few things not going for it.

1) It was $300 before Xmas in 2016.
2) Lytro completely dropped support - meaning EVERY photo you take can only be shared after outputting a single variation. The LIVE photo feature was solely functioning on their own hosting and they have cancelled that. They have not and probably will never release the API to process, render and display our own live photos personally.

This means, other than a collectors piece on technology, its just a regular camera and its not a very good one at that.

They killed off hosting live photos. So the only way to display a "live" photo is on your PC/Mac desktop/laptop while in their proprietary software or in-camera. You can no longer share live photos on the web/internet in any form.

Doesn't record video? I almost assumed it did and wanted to play around with it. Guess not.

I want one because it looks so cool but I know I wouldn't use it. It has the same problem the SD Quattro did for me, it's not good enough for all situations and its too big to carry as a second camera.
