IMHO if it meets the spec designated by the OEM of your vehicle, it's fine (see owner's manual for your car for any special designations).

I've never cared if it was Valvoline, Havoline, Mobil 1, Quaker State, etc. as long at it met the spec from the manufacturer.

I think you have a very different definition of the word smart.

Agreed, one thing I would add is as long as it's full synthetic I recommend it as well. Do not go for the synthetic blends. This Castrol, Mobil 1, Pennzoil all great choices.

Not even on the same planet as far as high heat protection. Mobil 1 wins easily. This oil is just mediocre.

Dude regular oil is fine... Just change it more often...... It's all a gimmick

No one should. We've been trained to believe Mobil 1 is better but it's not anymore

Castrol is just as good. Maybe even better now that Mobil 1 changed

Can't talk to a comparison but proof here that Mobile 1 can go up to one year or 20k miles between changes without engine harm. Check it out:

Mobil 1™ Annual Protection – breakthrough lubricant technology

At ExxonMobil, we set out to develop the most advanced motor oil ever. Our goal: Provide drivers with the convenience of going one full year or 20,000 miles between oil changes* with a cutting-edge formulation that extends oil life, maximizes wear protection and prevents harmful deposits.

*Whichever comes first.

This will be the third time replacing my oil with this make, and each time I have almost a quart left over. Pretty soon I'll have enough left over to change the oil by itself!!!! Exciting times.
