Macrium or EaseUS? I have a Dell laptop with a 500GB spinner I'm replacing with Samsung EVO 850, and just want to replace it the easiest way possible. Samsung magician?

Magician is primarily for when the SSD is up and running. This Samsung Download Site [samsung.com] has links for Samsung Data Migration Software for Consumers. I used it a long time ago and it couldn't be easier.

"Samsung Data Migration software is designed to help users quickly, easily, and safely migrate all of their data – including their current operating system, application software, and user data – from their existing storage device (e.g. HDD) to their new Samsung SSD."

Thanks, someone on the deals thread mentioned Magician and it didn't look like a migration software.

Done a ton of SSD upgrades at work and the Samsung software is great.

All of the others - Macrium, Easeus, Clonezilla, etc have been problematic sometimes - although I think Macrium has worked when others haven't.

I had one issue with a computer with alot of drives, I ended up unplugging the extra drives (When the system was off) so I only had the main HD and the new SSD and worked through the errors just fine.

I'm about to migrate DW's existing ~75GB SSD (Windows OS Partition) to a Samsung 500GB SSD.
If this was your task, what software would you use?

If I thought there was any chance of needing to do this again for friends or family for example I'd look into one of the cloning docks from someone like Wavlink.

I migrated to a SSD a few weeks ago.

I had a traditional HD since 2008ish or so, then migrated to a SSHD Firecuda a few months ago, then just upgraded that to a SSD a few months ago.

I used AOMEI and had no issues.

Where most people seem to run into issues is with cloning hidden partitions or convoluted setups.

Cool.

The "only works for Samsung SSD's" does that mean the target and source have to both be Samsung or just the target drive?

Edit:

On a related note, my Dell has an extra 32GB mSATA drive that was supposed to make the laptop load faster. Anyone know exactly how that is configured? If I disable that drive, would there be a problem?

I *think* that was where the page file was to be put or some of the rapid load/pre load files that Windows thinks you use most often...but that is speculation on my part.

My question is why would you want to disable it?
