Hi,

We have not had one on site for a while but to my knowledge we haven't stopped them altogether.

I do know the FB team has been running some contests on our FB page recently.

FB thing is a total sham (JMHO). They are only rewarding people who post front page deal ONLY on wheel of prizes. So if you are active member elsewhere you are excluded. What a joke!. Post a ton of sweeps or freebies or coupons...tough luck to you. FB blog thing excludes a ton of users like myself. Tried viewing video blog on 3 occasions...giant free for all, what a mess.

As Finzz noted, many of the FB people are members of SD but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be also trying to reach out and entice even more FBers over to the site.
That's what having a presence on FB does for SD. More people coming here means more deals posted.

And having giveaways there doesn't take away from the giveaways from the site here. We don't always have one everyday on the site. That's nothing new. The ones here are sponsored by merchants and we also make sure they aren't refurbished items when it's from the site.
On FB we have different criteria for giveaways and often giveaway things already tested etc.

Implode... you have won the site giveaway twice. So as you see, giving more entries for those who post FP deals (the lifeblood of the site)... only helps a little. It doesn't tip the scale away from everyone who hasn't posted a front page deal to the point of other's never winning.

Facebook sweeps exclude a ton of people, and feel biased to me and others I've discussed it with. My perspective is from the avid sweeper portion of the site. The sweepers are the group these giveaways appeal to most?! Feels like these are taking away from general sweeps to me. But that could just be poor timing. Feel like the sweeps should be open to everybody. When they say we have chosen the best front page deals and placed them on a wheel...that seems speaking frankly, highly biased. Because I post popular sweeps, I will never get on the wheel. But I'm not simply speaking for the sweepstakes community, that also applies to other areas of the site as well. LOT of hard working contributors who deserve a shot.

I readily admit to winning SD prizes over the years, its not something I'm hiding. Pretty open about that. Props to SD sponsors like JC Penny and New Egg, they are amazing companies. heart hug

My understanding is that they wheel isn't just for FP people. Be sure to take in the explanation at the beginning of the segment.. and stick around for the broadcast in full. They are there for more than just giving away a prize too. Smilie

I like when site giveaways are posted more often. Anything we can do to help make that happen?

I have another idea. In addition to the main prizes, maybe sponsors could consider adding 2nd prizes, for example first prize is $200 gc and 2nd could be many $10 gc (could be virtual to avoid postage). Might be a bad idea if it results in fewer giveaways though.

Hi,
The giveaways are sponsored by merchants, how often they are run depends on when the merchants wish to sponsor them.

Thanks for the suggestion on the double giveaways.

How to get giveaways?share sd deal??thx
Hi, Winners are selected randomly by a program. The more things you do on the extra entries options page the better chance you have of having your ID selected.

Contests were great, gave extra motivation to list frontage deals.

Have to admit, having posted a crap ton of deals and made it to the FP several times, does kinda bug me to not have won anything. It's silly I know, odds are what they are and I did get improved odds here and there thanks to my contributions...

But reading that some folks have won more than once...it just stings lol

Personally I've always thought that folks that make the FP ought to get something for it. We've made SD investors rich, seems like they could share the spoils at least some?

While I understand the sentiment and have brought it up myself.. it was pointed out to me, and makes sense.. that if we did that it's basically paying for posting deals.

This invites even more shills for us to hunt down and scrub away.

I'd like to work on sending swag to our top posters of all forums. We just did the first round. We'll see how appreciated, or not, that is and work on doing more things like that.

You'll of course be accused of bias, but you can't please everyone. Being "hated" comes with being in charge. I'd gladly hate on you some if the overall level of the site became friendlier and pleasanter. Wink (even seeing other people getting piled on gets old after a while)

I'm sure the majority of people would appreciate some swag. Even if it's something oddball, there's always regifting.

Hope to see some contests again. Maybe I'll win one someday. One of the car ones I hope! (I think you gave away some cars a long while back?)
