I bought this for the same price at Costco around BF -- I don't use it much, but I have no complaints. The keyboard is great (I'm picky about that) and the touchpad is decent. The matte screen is a huge plus IMO, and it's very quick. Simple games on Steam work well, much better than on my MBP! -- battery life could be a bit better when on just the integrated graphics but I can live with that.

how would this stack up against
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspir...B075FLBJV7

seems the cpu is better on the 8250u and it has ssd which is good
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu....40+2.50GHz
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu....40+1.60GHz

Looks like the GPU with twice the memory makes this the choice for gaming

The one you linked has a 256 ssd which is superior to the mechanic in the op.
However the ops laptop has significantly superior gaming performance

Would only get ops if your intention is to play games. Otherwise I'd prefer the one you linked for just about anything else, even common graphical work (anything but rendering 3d stuff professionally) as the graphics will be plenty.

I actually was just looking up recommended laptops for college, and that E 15 was on the top of the list of one of the sites I looked at. That said, I feel like I should still wait for a sale on it.

Don't hold your breath, I've been watching price since Oct & so has the camel
https://urlhasbeenblocked/Acer-As...B075FLBJV7
although it had a precipitous drop in Dec

edit
how does the camel fall into one of these categories?

Same price it has been for months for this or any laptop with same specs. Not deal on this one. Costco was also selling for this price last year .

Simple games? This could probably run games at 1080 60fps. I could run that with my i7 gtx 950

This is a not a good deal. I bought an Acer Nitro for $650 new on eBay around black Friday but that one came with a GTX 1050 Ti that is about 30% faster than the GTX 1050. A better deal is the Dell 7577 with GTX 1060MQ for ~ $850 on eBay, sometimes less. The GTX 1060MQ is about 100% faster than a GTX 1050.

It isn't BF anymore, and this deal isn't bad.

The demand and price for cards has gone sky high again due to crypto currency, effecting even 1050s...
