They come with actual games. It isn't just cardboard.

You're not just paying for cardboard, folks. Think about how much time/effort went into designing these. There's no glue involved from what I can see. Have you ever tried to build a complicated design out of cardboard using only tabs and foldable serrations? It takes WAY more time drafting the concept than it actually takes to build it. You're partially paying for an idea here, the creative process that lead to mass production. Cardboard is a very "crafty" medium, so I can understand a lot of the shock at the price-tag, but I can't help but see these things as little pieces of art. The quotidian nature of them propels that concept further; a commonly understood cheap, unstable, fringe material now becomes usable and fun. Plus it comes with software, if you can't get behind the idea of buying "corporate art."

I don't even have a Switch, but I'm considering pre-ordering for when I eventually pick one up. Maybe I end up with some useless cardboard and a crappy game, but I have to applaud Nintendo's creativity here regardless.

Wtf are these things?
Interactive games where you use cardboard to build things, which connects to the Switch as a controller.

This would work for sure? The codes expire in Feb and these come out in April.

Just place the order before the GC expires.

EDIT - DON'T CANCEL YOUR PREORDER FOR ANY REASON - then you'll have to contact BB to try to get a reissue on the GC. You can return the item though and get a new GC (for the GC portion or the entire amount), which won't have an expiration date. woot.
