Wifi Calling on Cricket with AT&T Galaxy S5 and LG V20 workaround using IPhone

I received this idea from Reddit but can't find it at the moment however I have been needing WiFi calling for so long due to my house being in a dead zone. As we all know, Cricket only supports 2 phones on Android.

Well my co-worker let me sell her Verizon iPhone 6+ and I decided to stick my sim in there for a few hours. I then took the SIM out and put it in my LG v20, enabled wifi calling and it took me to an E911 page where I was able to register my sim with my address. I successfully made some test calls and text messages and then put it in my AT&T Galaxy s5 and sure enough it worked!

So there you have it. All you need to do is find a friend with an AT&T or Verizon/Unlocked iPhone and let it sit for a few hours while the system recognizes your SIM.

I have been trying now for the past 6 months ever since the announcement and it kept saying call Cricket. I even tried my coworkers iPhone X and it didn't work either. Then again, I only left it in there for 10 minutes. It took roughly 3-4 hours in the iPhone 6 for my SIM to register.

Would iphone trick work in a cricket s6 instead Of The att s5?

Do you know if anyone has tried this with AT&T post-paid service and an unlocked, non-AT&T android phone? From what I've read, non-AT&T branded android phones aren't on the AT&T whitelist for Wifi Calling and, therefore, can't use the feature. But your workaround suggests that the AT&T system will enable the feature as long as it was first registered via an iPhone. My fingers are crossed hoping that's true...

I didn't have to do anything other than enable the option on my iphone x after the latest carrier settings update hit last month. No other phones/Sims required.

To get the latest settings goto settings>general>about on your iphone and wait a few moments, a pop up should appear for the update. After that just enable wifi calling in cellular settings.

What is the best way to test if its working? Put the phone in airplane mode, enable just wifi and try calling your phone?

I believe it needs to be on the supported list of cricket wifi calling phones. It seems that they have provision those phones to work with WiFi calling. Just my guess

That could make sense because on Reddit I was reading that the T-Mobile versions do not work. However I was able to enable WiFi calling via a Verizon iPhone 6 Plus so you think the system should have rejected that

If you want to see if it works put your Sim in a non supported phone and enable WiFi calling. If it works you will be redirected to an e-911 page

If you need wifi calling you need to switch carriers. At least Metropcs has it on thier entire line of phones. Cricket/ATT has a slow arse network. Why go out of your way to get a basic feature working?

It's funny you mention that because I have mintsim trial right now that I have been contemplating leaving AT&T for T-Mobile. I have actually tried leaving three times but T Mobile reception is so flaky it just doesn't work for me. Especially indoors. The only carrier I would switch for is Verizon and they don't offer wifi calling either on the prepaid side
