In the Q&A section, somebody asks if this light can be used without the motion sensor, ie they just wanted to control it with a light switch..... and the answer given by the manufacturer is that the motion sensing capability of this light cannot be turned off, and points the buyer towards a different model instead.

I'm in the same boat. I need a security light that is just going to be controlled with a switch. I don't want or need motion sensing capability in this application. The item description says this unit can be used in Sensing mode, Manual mode, and Test mode. What exactly is manual mode? I would assume this means that it can be used manually, without the motion sensing, but that is not what the manufacturer states in the Q&A section.

Can this light be used just with a switch, instead of using the motion sensor?

I have a Shine Hai camping hammock and it's pretty good quality, so I'd imagine they're also very good at light- and motion-sensing electronics.

Those skills overlap about 90% in the world of off-brand Chinese companies of the 21st century.

But I still think Unifun or Ace Teah would be a more solid choice in the electronics world.

Like any motion sensor mounted to a light fixture, I would imagine you could undo the wire nuts and hook up a switch.

I use a similar one on a switch in my side driveway. Works perfectly. thinking of getting one for my patio area.

Either thru bypassing the motion sensor, or like many you turn light switch on, off, on within couple seconds.

Just looking at the photos, I don't think there is a battery option.

Feels like I've seen this Shine Hai company make a myriad of things that have been posted this past week. Are they all that good or is the company on a brand recognition campaign on this site? Just curious.

No, hardwire unless you want to MacGyver it.

Usually LEDs are 12volt...but like i said you would have to rewire it, and the motion sensor module is probably 120 volt.

I don't know for sure as I don't have this model. However, I've had many motion sensor outdoor lights. Both flood and wall mount. The manual mode can be activated by flipping the interior switch down then up in quick succession. Otherwise, it stays up all the time for motion.

No deal on the multi pack.... No reason to order it that way in case you want to return one.

Edit: looks like out of multi pack now.

Also I bought similar one at Costco about 4 years ago and still going strong (also can return if it craps out).
