Especially Das who overprice there keyboards.
They are built like a tank and I'm typing every day, I don't regret spending the money on my Das. Considering Ducky or maybe WASD in the future. IMO tho, membrane keyboards suck. I have a cheaper Rosewill one (red switches) and it works fine if you want a mechanical one but I hands down prefer my Das. In general mechanicals are great tho, I ran my rosewill thru the dishwasher one time after I spilled beer on the keyboard. Still works fine.

Thanks for the link. Let me check it out. I've seen the 5q but I haven't looked into it all that much. 5q aside, for the 4 Ultimate I wanted a keyboard that would prevent other coworkers from attempting to come over and use my desk while also training me to not look at my keys, did a great job at both. I just checked, I bought mine September 25, 2014 and it's running great, haven't had an issue where I needed to reach out to CS.

Honestly nowadays there are plenty of solid built keyboards with better features and cheaper than these.

They used to command a premium price when less mechanical keyboards existed.

Btw brown switches are my personal favorite.

Exactly.

I don't know what people do to need a keyboard that's built like a tank. Maybe they need to go find a POS keyboard?

My first mechanical board is a Leopold FC980M with brown switches and I absolutely love the layout. Use it daily at work and I'd purchased it for about $110 I believe, though it was shipped from overseas so it can take a bit of time. I've been looking to get one of these Das boards for my family too as it has the familiar layout and looks solid.

I totally get your point. I first purchase the Rosewill RK-9000V2 (red) and I was happy with it but I wanted to try out another switch that was quieter. Browns are obviously great, but the build quality of my das is so much better than the rosewill. Does everyone need a Das? Probably not. But if you're interested in a keyboard that can last year years, I recommend it. I'm behind a computer so much that it doesn't bother me investing in a great keyboard that will last me a long time and I am extremely comfortable typing on.

i saw this comment on the other thread I posted and I just feel it's very accurate: https://slickdeals.net/f/11179123-das-keyboard-prime-13-white-led-backlit-mechanical-keyboard-cherry-mx-brown-switches-109?p=111195695#post111195695

I haven't really ever cleaned mine either, still looks fine. I occasionally will try to knock the crap out that falls below the keys, but still looks fine.

WASD makes great keyboards as well.
