Costco has this excellent rice cooker on sale for $220.

Amazon has good reviews on the product and it is selling it for $337.

What make this rice cooker different from the sub-$100 rice cookers is the induction heating - more on it with the link below. And this rice cooker is made in Japan.

Ironic that one of the world's cheapest staple foods would need something like this.

I'm having a Sally Struthers crisis here.

As a daily rice eater, I got Tiger induction cooker last year. The cooked rice came out tastier than element heating cooker, it is my experience to share with my fellow SD

My family of 5 eats rice almost everyday in a regular pot, why in the hell would I pay over 200.00 for a rice cooker for a 3.00 bag of rice?
Make it taste better? Or.. well.. different?

Just having any rice cooker does make preparing rice so much more convenient though. Doesn't mean you need to shell out 220,-

That's a good question. It is a toss up between the two brands imo, although Tiger has a better reputation in Asia.

I have the zojirushi IH cooler and it definitely improves the texture and taste of rice. That might not matter to some people but everyone places different value on different things.
