Is this game good for 8yr old? I see it's $43.99 at target

I would say "no" just due to the complexity of the game. Also it's rated "Teen" which I think is correct. There is not extreme violence (well you swing a sword around and hundreds of people die every minute but it's not graphic or bloody!).

It's just a quite complicated game and within the first few hours you have 10 or 15 characters you need to understand and equip and manage. During actual "play" of the scenarios you need to alternate between interactively controlling one of the characters while pausing every minute or two to issue commands to the other characters. I just think it would be overwhelming for an 8-year-old. Zelda/Mario-style games would be the thing of choice I would say.

I believe the game is 13gb, in case you are debating between physical vs digital but I assume you still download most of the game even with the physical copy. Can anyone confirm this?

This isn't near as good as Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors definitive edition is coming to the switch this spring. An 8 year old would have fun, but I think he would lose interest before playing through the game. There are a lot of characters to unlock, but there isn't much variety in weapons. Hyrule Warriors has so much more variety in the characters, weapons, enemies, etc. Yes, Hyrule Warriors will be full price and will never drop. But I think it's worth it.

I bought Fire Emblem Warriors from Walmart as a pre-order when it was $40. After reading reviews, I returned it unopened. It wasn't that it was horrible, but it was that I had so much else I was more interested in on the Switch.

Oh, and if you have a PS4, Dragon Quest Heros 2 is $20 at bestbuy this week and that's the same type of gameplay.

No this is not Xbox or PS4, you do NOT download the game if you have a physical copy. It runs direct from cartridge.

No the download is very small with the physical. Not sure of the size but it only took two minutes

It's a fun game. History mode challenges really keep me occupied. I'm 100 hours in so far.
