Question about a Philips Hue starter kit: buy now or wait?

Buy now or wait? Someone on craigslist has agreed to sell me a new latest generation kit, the white, with four bulbs, for $65. The kit sells for 89 on Amazon. I know Hue stuff shows up here occasionally, I've just never gotten interested in it until now.

Should I grab that deal or should I wait for something to come around here?

I would wait. I got that same kit for $50 at Best Buy on Black Friday. Also I don't trust Craigslist's but that's just me

Personally, I would go with LIFX. They do not require a hub and operate on wifi. To this day I still have connection issues with my Hue bulbs.

$177on amazon for the third gen starter

120.00 plus ship on ebay https://www.ebay.com/i/253378905358?chn=ps

I did not read your entire post. So there is no "latest gen" on the white bulbs. They are all the second generation.

I think the price is OK as long as it has the square hub and not the round one.

I have bought and sold stuff through craigslist with no problems.

Thanks guys. The recommendation for lifx Has me thinking. I was mainly leaning towards Hue because I already have a couple of bulbs in my kitchen, so I figured I would get the controller and some more bulbs. Plus I wouldn't mind having some light strips at some point, all controlled by my apple ecosystem. Now I'm thinking maybe I should get the latest model white/color. You guys are geniuses with your deal finding!
